A tragic head-on crash on US 18/20 took the lives of two Wyoming men on Thursday evening, January 3. The collision occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at milepost 38 just outside of Lusk, Wyoming.
According to Wyoming State Patrol troopers, the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet truck, recently identified as Kyle Blake, was traveling westbound on US 18/20, before dangerously swerving over the center line.
The driver, Blake, 29, of Lusk, Wyoming, veered off into the eastbound lane – the cause still unknown – and immediately striked the frontend of another driver’s vehicle, causing a devastating head-on crash that left both men deceased.
Ewart Johnson, 76, of Manville, Wyoming, was driving eastbound in a 1997 Pontiac car before the Chevrolet smashed into the front of his vehicle, bringing both vehicles to a sudden, disheartening stop.
Wyoming Highway Patrol received the dispatch call at approximately 6:13 p.m., according to local police officials.
Highway patrol also reported that neither of the drivers, Blake nor Johnson, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Unfortunately, both of the Wyoming drivers succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the collision.
Wyoming accident investigators state that alcohol, drugs and speed did not play a role in the head-on crash.
The crash is still being investigated by local Wyoming authorities.
